Validations of system to be done as per ISO 14664 standards and to be necessarily include:

  • Temperature and Humidity check
  • Air particulate count
  • Air Change Rate Calculation
  • Air velocity at outlet of terminal filtration unit / filters
  • Pressure Differential levels of the OT with respect to ambient / adjoining areas
  • Validation of HEPA Filters by appropriate tests like DOP etc
  • Maintenance of the system:
  • It is recommended that periodic preventive maintenance be carried out in terms of cleaning of pre filters at the interval of 15 days.


Ceiling Mounted Laminar Airflow System
Laminar airflow is designed to move particle free air over the aseptic operating field in one direction. It can be designed to flow vertically or horizontally and is usually combined with high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters. HEPA filters remove particles > 0.3 micron in diameter with an efficiency of 99.997%. Wall & Ceiling panels:
PUF FILLED SANDWHICHED wall panels varies from 50mm,60mm or 80 mm panels are used for wall cladding to suit the budget, without compromising on standards. These panels are made from aluminum coated PPGI sheets with various color options. These panels are highly temperature resistant and gives very unique attractive look to your operation theatre.

Air Handling Units:
AHU designed for OT applications will as per the room volume of any sized OT & will be of at least 2800 CFM capacity or above with a static pressure of 120mm WC or above. A fresh air filter of 10 micron rating and secondary filter of 5 micron filters are provided in the AHU itself. Blowers will be of centrifugal type with forward curved impellors driven through belt system by a heavy duty motor of 3 phase 415 volt. A set of suitably designed dampers provided for inlet and outlet ducts to regulate the supply and return air volume. Air conditioning Condensing units for the OT will be designed & incorporated, which is designed based on the OT room sizes, LAF size, no of occupants and other various parameters.

The AHU of each OT should be dedicated and should not be linked to air conditioning of any other area. During the non functional hours AHU blower will be operational round the clock (may be without temperature control). VFD devices may be used to conserve energy Window & split A/c should not be used in any type of OT because they are purely re-circulating units and have convenient pockets for microbial growth which cannot be sealed.  The flooring, walls and ceiling should be non porous, smooth, seamless without corners and should be easily cleanable repeatedly.
